Become a Life Saver!
LifeAct’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a dynamic group of motivated high school students from all over Northeast Ohio who volunteer their time to help our organization in many ways. Our YAB supports LifeAct in its important suicide prevention work by serving as teen consultants and ambassadors for LifeAct and engaging in awareness building and fundraising activities. They also provide important input on LifeAct’s programming and marketing outreach materials. We welcome all high school students who share in our mission to help save young lives!
YAB members are expected to attend monthly meetings held at the LifeAct office (8 meetings per year). At these meetings students provide opinions and ideas that are utilized by LifeAct’s staff and instructors. Each year the YAB assists with our Annual Into the Light Walk. Members are responsible for creating walk teams to represent their individual schools and are essential volunteers at the event. They also help with distributing LifeAct information and working on various projects and videos.
The YAB provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with other teens from all over Northeast Ohio. LifeAct gives its YAB members a firsthand experience with the non-profit world while also helping them to gain valuable volunteer hours. Members get the wonderful satisfaction of helping others and having fun at the same time!

PLEASE NOTE: LifeAct’s Youth Advisory Board is not a peer-to-peer counseling group. The most important way a teen can act to save another teen’s life is by letting a trusted adult know someone is at risk for suicide so that person can be connected to a mental health professional.
Our Youth Advisory Board helps us to reduce
the stigma associated with depression and mental illness.
